    1. Click 'Clip' button on the toolbar to enter the 'Clip' window.
    2. Click 'Play' button to play the title and during playback, use 'Set Start Point' and 'Set End Point' buttons to get the segment you want.
    3. If you need multiple segments, click 'New Clip' button and repeat step '2' to get more segments.
    4. If you want to get an integral output with all clip segments, please keep the option 'Output segments as a whole one' checked.
    5. After the above settings, click 'Apply' and 'Close' button to apply all the settings and return to the main window. The clipped segments will be added below the source file in the list.
  • Q6: Is it possible that I get more than 1 title converted and only get 1 output file?

    A: Yes, by the 'Merge' function we offered, you can do that. But you need highlight all the titles in the file list first. You can do this job by pressing the 'CTRL' key or 'Shift' key simultaneously. And then the 'Merge Selected Items into One' button will be active. After you click it, a merged item will be shown in the list, which includes all the titles that you have selected.
    You can also edit the merged item as you wish. Please just right click the merged item and select the option 'Edit Joint Item' to open 'Joint Item' window. In the 'Joint Item' window, use 'Move Up' and 'Move Down' buttons to adjust the order of transition items and click 'Duration' button to set the transitional duration in the transition panel. After all settings, click 'Apply' button to save the changes.
  • Q7:Besides DVD disc, can I load DVD Folder or IFO file into the program? And how can I do that?

    A: Yes, of course. In 'Add File(s)' drop-down list, besides DVD drive, you can find other sub-items. By these items, you can get IFO files or DVD Folder loaded into the file list. Or you can find those things in 'File' menu, too.
  • Q8:How can I get the chapters of my DVD displayed in the list after loading DVD?

    A: In 'Edit' menu, there is an item called 'Show Chapters'. All the chapters on your DVD, under each title, will be displayed in the file list after you click it.
  • Q9:Where are the other settings like Frame Rate and Sample Rate appeared on the right of the main interface in the previous versions?

    A: On the top right, beside the words 'Basic Settings', there is a button called 'Show Advanced Profile Settings'. An extended panel will show other settings after you click it. You can set the audio Bit Rate and Sample Rate, as well as other items there.
  • Q10:Can I edit the ID3 Tag information items for the output files?

    A: If you select WMA and MP3 as output format, you can edit the Tag information for the conversion job. All the items of Tag information are also in the 'Advanced Profile Settings' panel.
  • Q11: How can I modify the settings on the right panel of the interface for my conversion job?

    A: Before you modify anything, you must highlight the item of your DVD, chapter or title which you want to convert in the program. Besides the values we have offered, you can simply enter a number you want for the conversion for most output formats, such as audio bit rate, sample rate. But sometimes, it would be limited by the output format and other conditions.
  • Q12:How can I select the wanted audio track to output?

    A: In the 'Audio' box, all the audio tracks can be found. Please select the one you want before you start converting. It is on the top of the file list.
  • Q13:Can I save the profile with the modified settings as a new one for future usage?

    A: It can be done by the 'Save As' button. After you finish the modifications, please click this button and finish other jobs following instructions. After the profile is created, you can delete or re-name it as you like.
  • Q14:Is it possible to get a clip/segment of my DVD converted?

    A: Yes. You need set 'Start Time' and 'Length' to get the clip you want. It is on the 'Advanced Profile Settings' panel. First of all, you should highlight the title of your DVD, which includes the main episodes of the movie. And then enter correct values for 'Start Time' and 'Length', which can be found on the right panel of the interface. For example, if you want a 3-minute-clip from the 10 minutes of the whole movie, please enter '00:00:00' for 'Start Time' and '00:03:00' for 'Length'.
  • Q15: How to raise/lower the output file's volume after my DVD is converted?

    A: Please open 'Xilisoft DVD to Video Platinum 6 > Preferences…', in the 'DVD' card, you will find the option for 'Adjust Volume'. The default value is 3. You can enter a smaller or larger number for it.
  • Q16: How to get my output files directly in the output folder I set?

    A: Please open 'Xilisoft DVD to Video Platinum 6 > Preferences…'. In the 'General' card, please cancel the options for 'Create chapter folder in output folder' and 'Create album folder in output folder'. After that, you will be able to find the output files directly in the output folder.

    A: Maybe you have set a smaller value for audio bit rate, which is also on the 'Advanced Profile Settings' panel. Please try a larger one for it. Generally speaking, the default value we offered can assure a good result.

    A: After your DVD is loaded into the program, please highlight the main title of your DVD which contains the main episodes of the movie and keep the 'Split' option as 'No Split'.     A: If you want to get the same source, title or chapter, converted into different target with different formats or different configurations, this function will help you. It will be activated after you highlight the loaded title or chapter, which you want to convert. After clicking it, the title or chapter that you chose will be duplicated so that you can set different profiles for each of them.
  • Q21:How can I know the most proper values for video and audio bit rate within the output size I expected?

    A: We have a small tool in the 'Tools' menu, Bit Rate Calculator. By this tool, you will get the proper settings for video and audio Bit Rate respective abiding by the output size you entered there. Once again, you must highlight the title or chapter that you want to convert first. What you decide there will be the settings for the items on the right automatically after you confirm them.
  • Q22: Which output format is the best to get the smaller size with better quality if I want to back up my DVD on my Mac?

    A: Generally speaking, we recommend H.264 output by our program. The default codec for H.264 in our program is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, which can provide better quality as well as smaller output size. And it has high compatibility with nearly all mainstream multimedia players.

    A: Do you have iTunes installed? It is a must. Please download it from www.apple.com. The transfer must be done by this tool’s assistant. At the bottom of the main window, you can choose ‘output to iPod’, ‘output to iPhone’, ‘output to iPad’ or ‘output to iTunes’ from the drop-down list right next to ‘Open’ button.     A: Please just click the down arrow right next to 'Open' button and select 'Output to PSP' from the drop-down list before converting.
  • Q25:Can I make certain settings to improve the image quality of the output 3GP file?

    A: The default settings which we offered for 3GP output are what are supported by most of mobile phones.
